Orezi mistaken for a politician as he is been asked for money to be voted for

Has your door been nocked in the middle of the night by some people claiming to be from a political party offering some amount of money for votes.

Vote buying is one malpractice that has been identified by many to be the bane of the electoral system in Nigeria.

The widespread practice and menace of this dangerous act has been reflected in what some little children in a small community in Delta.

As it appears, a Nigerian singer named Orezi had visited his hometown located in Delta on Thursday, November 23.

Upon arriving in the said village named Owhelogbo, the children within the location thought he was a politician.

This was most likely due to his big car and the air surrounding him.

This kids who did not want to misuse the opportunity of seeing such a 'big man' visit the village took to doing the one thing they knew to do at that moment.

They asked him for money, But because they thought he was a politician, these innocent kids took to leveraging on the upcoming election in 2019.

Hence, they started pursuing the singer and telling him that they would vote for him if only he gave them cash.

The video which was shared on Instagram by the singer himself has gone viral for its sheer depiction of the electoral malpractices in the country.

The kids who had thought that Orezi was in the small town to campaign bared what was happening in most parts of the country.

As it would be recalled, Goodluck Jonathan had earlier weighed in on the issue of vote buying during the launch of his book titled My Transition Hours.

According to him, this problem was one of the greatest that could confront a successful and smooth voting process in the year 2019.

In countering this issue, the former president advised the Independent National Electoral Commission to disallow any form of campaigning that encouraged this practice of vote buying and also hold elections in open places so that electorates can experience the true freedom that should rightly come with voting and being voted for.
